Blog Me Up Some Old Friends

Well I had no idea of the effect that blogging can have. I've really started to enjoy this. The "jimmygun" blog is going to become a lighter, more fun blog. I'm going to make my other blog my spiritual journal and a resource. It's exciting to read the comments from old friends. Steph and Annie, it was cool to see that you both found my blog. So many memories are swirling in my head of times playing volleyball and sitting in the Bellamy spa all night. (for those of you who think "all night" is an exaggeration, it's not.) Although, I'm at work and have to get back to it, I just wanted to encourage all who read my blogs to write comments. What you add is so awesome.

New Blog Alert

As a Christian, I need to be studying God's Word more. I've decided to use Blogging as a means for helping me retain what I read and apply it to my daily life. I can also be held more accountable, by others, from what I write. I'm using a different blog address for this.

Birthdays Are Really a Thing of the Past

So, yesterday was my birthday; I turned 29. But it was really just another day. The only thing that really comes to mind anymore is, "what am I doing with my life?" I know I keep promising this great big review of the Shepherds' Conference (and I'm close to the first review) but my life is so busy that it is flying by at Warp/Light speed. (I had to put both "warp" and "light" for the Star Trek and Star Wars fans that are my friends) I don't have time anymore to "stop and smell the roses." And, although I never stopped to smell roses before I became the "owner's representative" of a construction company, I wish I had that amount of free time, and energy, and even mental capacity, to stop and smell and enjoy the beauty of a rose. But I digress. On my birthday, good o' St. Patrick's Day, I have a chance to reflect on the events of the previous year. Yesterday I realized that, after work I am more interested in sleep than having a party. Thankfully my parents and some friends planned a small party with pizza and angel food cake with strawberry frosting, otherwise I'd have gone home, relaxed and "hit the hay" early. I would have missed out on the joys of family and friends. Speaking of friends...The only other thing that comes to mind is the 19th of March. "Why?" you may ask. Well your first guess is wrong. It's not because it's the anniversary of the beginning to the war on terror. It's because it's Dan Ray's Birthday. We are 2 days apart. I'm older, of course, but there is not too much else that's different. We are both strong headed, obsessive compulsive people. Now, people who know Dan and me might say, "Jeremy is obsessive with germs and cleanliness. But Dan, he's not obsessive like that." Well, let me tell you, Dan is obsessive with other areas of his life. He's obsessive with his desire for more knowledge and education. He is obsessive in his search of God's Word and with his desire to know God more and serve him better. To wrap this up so I can go home, I hope that my obsession in life becomes more like Dan's and less like it currently is. Happy Birthday Daniel Kylin Ray!

Conference Review Teaser

First, notice the time of this posting. That's really when I posted it. NEED SLEEP!!! So I’m really too busy to have a blog. I want, so badly, to give you something to read regarding the Shepherds’ Conference but I just don’t seem to have the time. I put together this teaser so I could draw you in for the upcoming review of the first and the sixth general sessions. John MacArthur taught through the book of Jude and I call my work “The Jude Review.” If you want to be prepared for "The Jude Review", you could read the book of Jude. It’s short. Anyway, below is my teaser to the Conference Reviews that will hopefully start over the weekend. The already 2 page Word document I call “The Jude Review” is still in the rough draft stage. I will have my beautiful wife read and correct it so it is grammatically correct. For now, it’s all me and my mistakes. Here’s the teaser. Some General Information about the Conference The Shepherd’s Conference was held at Grace Community Church of Sun Valley in Southern California. Nearly 3,500 men attended the conference. We were encouraged by the teaching of such great men of the faith as John MacArthur, Al Mohler, and R.C. Sproul. These men, along with other pastors from Grace, and professors from The Master's Seminary, taught seminars to help pastor (shepherds) gain confidence to continue to fight for truth in teaching the Word of God. I pray that, as a result of this conference, God is glorified and His kingdom is furthered by pastors committing themselves to the truth; the Word of God. I hope that the shepherds at this conference will be, as 2 Tim 2:15 tells us, “approved, worker‘s’…not ashamed…rightly handling the word of truth.” I also want to fight for the truth. And I want to be used by God. I want to be an approved workman, who is not ashamed, who rightly divides the word of truth as it is the only authority on earth.
